Shady gold. Something you would hope to discover in a submerged privateer transport. Wet bacon and apple serving of mixed greens with a sprinkle of petroleum. Trace of sharp cocoa. Long smoky completion. This is the genuine article.

Better profile than the 2014 yet at the same time a good time for peat cravers. Tasted (twice) at WhiskyFest New York 2015.

Tasting Notes

Nose

Peaty and spicy, this is pungent with tar, pipe tobacco, smoked paprika, hints of parma ham, chili, burning turmeric, toffee apple sweetness, citrus and malt.

Taste

Massive, this is just a crescendo of intense, fiery peat, like biting into a chipotle chilli, with a-whole-nother dimension of sweetness and fruit too. Fabulous stuff, with hints of top quality mezcal, apples, lime juice and lemon curd.

Finish

Coal tar, citrus, salty butter, sticking plasters, cocoa and big, warming peat that tingles the tongue for minutes.
